In a paper of 500 words, reflect upon your own philosophy of reaching every student and closing achievement gaps. How have you addressed this challenge in your own classroom? List 3-4 specific strategies you have used to address some of the needs of your students.

Assignment

In this Module, you have examined how formative assessments and response to intervention (RTI) can be used to guide and design instruction and investigated strategies relating to universal design for learning (UDL). Now it is your turn to apply what you have learned.

This assignment has 2 parts:

Part I: Given the information you’ve gleaned from the readings and presentations for this Module, write a one page statement outlining your views on the use of formative assessments, response to intervention and universal design for learning in guiding your own personal instructional design process. Use specific examples from the readings and presentations to support your views.

Part II: Again using the information you’ve learned from this module, design 3 lesson plans that employ the strategies of formative assessment, response to intervention and universal design for learning. You may use strategies presented in the readings and presentations of this module as guides for designing your lesson plans.

In this Module, you have examined how student motivation and engagement can affect the learning environment of the classroom. You have also examined strategies to increase student motivation and engagement to bring about more effective learning. Now it is your turn to apply what you’ve learned.

Using the information you have gleaned from the readings and presentations, create a classroom plan that will increase the motivation and engagement of your students. Your plan should include ways in which you will design the physical space of the classroom, how you plan to interact with students throughout the day and should also include 2 lesson plans that highlight specific strategies you believe will engender engagement with the subject matter.

Assignment

In this Module, you have examined the roles and responsibilities of teachers in working with students on an Individual Education Plan. You have examined some of the strategies that could be employed in the classroom to accommodate students with a variety of learning challenges. Now it is time for you to apply what you’ve learned.

For this assignment, you will design 3 lesson plans that will highlight specific strategies to differentiate instruction for students. The first lesson plan should be written to address the needs of a student that is on the autism spectrum but still high functioning. The second lesson plan should be written to address the needs of a student with ADHD and the third lesson plan should be written to address the needs of a deaf student. Be sure to include strategies specific to the student’s need in each lesson. Feel free to use this lesson plan template  to create your lessons. All of your lesson plans must contain measurable objectives.

Assignment

In this Module, you have examined some of the challenges faced by ELL students in the mainstream classroom. You have also investigated teaching strategies dealing specifically with increasing ELL student achievement. Now it is your turn to apply what you’ve learned.

For this assignment you will design four lesson plans using four different strategies you have learned from the readings and presentations in the module. These lesson plans can be in any subject but must be differentiated for English Language Learners. Your lesson plans should also have clear and measurable objectives. You may use this lesson plan template  if you wish.

Now it is time to apply what you’ve learned.

In a 500 word paper, outline how you have supported racial, ethnic and culturally diverse students. What steps have you taken as a teacher to become culturally responsive? Outline specific strategies you have employed in the classroom to teach students of different races and cultures effectively. Be sure to incorporate the readings and presentations of this Module in your paper.

Final Project: Teacher Training Presentation

For your final project, you will take what you have learned throughout the entire course and create a presentation that you would use to train other teachers and administrators in your district. Now that you have completed the course, you are seen as the “expert” in Teaching Methods for Diverse Learners.

Your presentation should consist of between 12-15 slides and should include narration. You can create your presentation in Powerpoint or Prezi and you should outline at least three important points you have learned from each of the seven modules of the course as well as highlight at least two specific teaching strategies you have used in your lesson plan assignments. In addition, include a bibliography of at least 10 resources your colleagues could access to find out more information about the subjects you have presented.
