Staffing Issues Case Study.

The scenario is about the high census with a shortage of nursing staff in the hospital setting. The nurses are exhausted from having to work overtime 5 days a week due to the nursing shortage. Two nurses voice their concerns over the matter; one nurse explained her exhaustion and that being overworked led to her making a medication error. She feared that she was putting patients’ lives at risk from working in such conditions. The other nurse complained of working three Saturdays in a row, causing her to have to miss a wedding she planned to attend the following Saturday, and that she has been especially overworked from having to work with and train new RNs with less than a year of experience.
