Outcome 2 Recognize and discuss the aspect of Arabic culture

Objective: Describe three Arab countries

To meet this objective, you will prepare a project on three Arab countries.

The traditions and customs of Arab cultures have many differences compared to Western culture. If you are traveling to an Arab country, knowing certain Arab customs and traditions will make your visit more enjoyable. Even if you’re not planning a trip, it is also fun getting educated about other cultures.

You will be assigned three Arabic speaking countries to research and create a powerpoint/keynote/ video slide-share presentation to be presented to the class on your selected countries. Your research must include (but is not limited) to the following information: Voice over must be in Arabic:

  1. Title page with Map of  each country – includes a map of each country, label its bordering countries /oceans
  2. Flag of each country  + picture
  3. Cost of flight to each country from the United States.
  4. Geography – discuss the geography of each country, talk about some major land formations /
  5. bodies of water found in each country ( rivers, oceans, mountain ranges, waterfalls), include names and pictures of places
  6. Demographics/People – population, languages spoken in each country
    religions practiced, and include pictures of people from your country
  7. Currency – the name of the currency, exchange rate to US dollars, picture of currency
  8. Capitol – population of the city, picture of the city, and at least three popular/historical
    destination one should see while visiting the city
  9. Economy – Gross Domestic Product (GDP (Official Exchange Rate)), major industries,
    agriculture products, unemployment rate, population below the poverty line, and any other
    economic information you find interesting.
  10. Five famous people from each country – name, date of birth, death date (if dead), why they are famous, provide a  picture for each figure.
  11. Five popular tourist destinations for each country– include pictures, which makes it a popular destination, and any other interesting or important information about the destination
  12. Two holidays/customs celebrated in each country – explain the holiday, custom, or tradition, when is it celebrated and why, include pictures.
  13. Typical foods – include some typical foods eaten in the country, including pictures and at least one recipe.
  14. Dance – what dances are home to this country and/or popular in this country, including name and description of the dance, video clip if available.
  15. Music – talk about at least one style/genre of music that is native to your country, include names of musical instruments used, popular musicians/bands in this genre, and a clip of musical genre/style if available
  16. Bibliography – list all sources/websites used in your project.
