Q1. Critically discuss communication strategies that the new graduate registered nurse could use to engage with the interprofessional collaborative team when working in a new clinical area of practice (300 words).

In the health care system, graduated registered nurses (GRNs) possibly work with the interprofessional collaboration team. The team members are health professionals from different backgrounds, which are comprised of a pharmacist, a physician, a dietitian, and nurses (Davidson et al., 2022, p. 2). The main aim of the Interprofessional collaboration team is to offer optimal health services to patients and ensure patients have positive care outcomes during their stay in the hospital (Sudeshika et al., 2021, p. 2). Team members meet frequently with the patient to share resources, set goals, and make decisions to improve patient’s overall health (Herdenson, 2018, p. 5).

Being assertive and implementing active listening skills are two of the strategies that assist GRNs to communicate clearly in the team while caring patient (McKenna et al., 2020, p. 614). According to Mansour et al. (2020, p.177), an assertive nurse has fair-minded, tends to be reasonable, and willing to listen to teammates’ opinions. Assertive communication allows GRNs to treat team members with the same level of respect and accept others have the right to express themselves. If GRNs master their communication skill in an assertive way, they can bring their voice to the table with honest and straightforward expression, demonstrate a willing attitude to receive a response from other health professionals which lead to better communication in the health care environment, and establish a positive change for the practice of nursing, ultimately, that improves patient care. Active listening is another form of mutual respect and is effective for GRNs to engage in the team efficiently (Sigmon et al., 2021, p. 7). GRNs have always been shy in the new workplace environment, while meeting with other health professionals, provide feedback in such forms as nodding, rephrasing teammate’s words, maintaining an expression that shows interest, asking questions for clarification and observing the way of experienced nurses’ interaction (Ellis, 2019, p.68). Therefore, a hormonic atmosphere can be developed by GRNs by implementing communication strategies.
