Choose six (6) things you would check when doing a fire safety check on a client’s home.

(a)No flammable clutter or rubbish lying around

(b)Name and photo of fire warden is posted on wall or other easily visible location

(c)Safe storage of flammable chemicals.

(d)Kitchen safety – check flammable objects are placed well away from stoves or points of ignition.

(e)Toaster or electrical heater not more than 12 months old

(f)Electrical system checked by electrician.

(g)Appliances that have become wet, allowed to dry properly in sun before reuse

(h)Frayed electrical cords have been repaired or covered with electrical insulation tape

(i)Heating systems – check that open fires are safe to use

(j)Check for use of candles, smoking in bed and other potentially dangerous practices.
