When new users want to join BNS, they first need to fill in a form with their personal information (i.e. account type, first name, last name, email, address, and cell phone number).
Once the form is submitted, a unique registration number for the user is generated.
Then, the user can create his/her logon ID and PW. When a logon ID is entered, BNS checks its uniqueness throughout BNS.
Once confirmed, BNS automatically generates a unique account number and records the account number, logon ID, PW and creation date. While a user logs in using the logon ID, BNS uses the account number throughout BNS.
The user needs to specify which type of account he/she prefers: a business account or a personal account. A business account is specifically designed to support companies in their marketing campaigns. When a user decides to open a business account, he/she has to specify the name of the company. Users with a business account also pay a fee. There are several fee plans such as monthly plan, one year plan, or two year plan, etc.
Users with the personal account does not pay any fee. When a user opts for a personal account, he can keep in touch with any other BNS personal account users. Only personal accounts can send or receive friend requests. When a personal account user sends a friend request to another user for the first time, the date is recorded as send date. When the other account holder accepts, the system records the accepted date. These dates will allow the BNS to compute the number of friends for each account. The personal page shows the total number of friends the account user has.
Each account can create several pages, while each page must be administrated by exactly one account. For each page, a unique page number, page name, and the total number of visits to the page are logged.
Users with a business profile can create a special type of page: an advertisement page. An advertisement page is about a campaign that is summarized by the campaign name and campaign description.
Each campaign may contain several multimedia clip such as video clips, audio clips, or images. Each multimedia clip has its name, play time (if it is a video clip or audio clip), and size. The multimedia clip name can be unique only within each campaign. Each advertisement page hence needs to record several measures, like the bounce rate (BR), the click through rate (CTR), and the conversion rate (CR). The bounce rate is the percentage visitors on the page that leave immediately. The click through rate is the percentage of visitors that click on a certain banner on the page. The conversion rate is the percentage of visitors that accomplish the intended goal, like a purchase or a transaction. The three measures are captured for each day.
A personal page contains a short description for the theme of the page and a set of related blogs. The theme can be up to 1000 characters. A blog is characterized by a blog name and a blog content, which is a text with sentences. BNS keeps track of the total #business users and #personal users.
