Count Dracula was admitted last week for dehydration as related to flu like symptoms. Mr Dracula has recently started having black tarry stools and his hematocrit and hemoglobin have dropped drastically.
1. Why do you think his hemoglobin and hematocrit is dropping?
Mr. Dracula has been ordered a blood transfusion.
After the blood transfusion, Mr. Dracula’s IV site has collapsed and it is determined that he needs a central line. Insertion of the central line is completed and it is time for flushing and using the central line.
