The pediatric patient was a 10-year-old male brought into a walk-in clinic by his parents shortly after falling and lacerating his knee seven days ago. The patient sustained a six-centimeter elliptical laceration above his right knee and had sutures placed. Over the last three days, the wound has become red, tender, and swollen, was draining yellow, purulent drainage, and has a foul odor. A wound culture shows this wound is + for MRSA (Methicillin Resistance Staph Aureus). The susceptibility report is below:

• VS: BP 104/60, HR 80, RR 19, T 99.5, Wt. 70 pounds, NKDA
• Ampicillin-Resistant
• Clavamox-Resistant
• Cephalexin-Resistant
• Penicillin-Resistant
• Tetracycline-Resistant
• Sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim-Susceptible
