Discussion Case Study: Adverse Childhood Experiences & Primary Care.
A 36 year old female presents to your primary care clinic with complaints of depressed mood for the last three months. They deny suicidal ideation, but admit that they have had poor sleep patterns, have gained about 15 pounds, and have lost interest in pleasurable activities. During the assessment the client reveals that they grew up in poverty after her father was imprisoned when she was 3 years old. Her mother struggled with alcoholism and had a series of boyfriends that were often abusive to her and her siblings.
