BIOL205 – Pathophysiology
Musculoskeletal disorders and fractures.
Fractures are defined as partial or complete break in the bone because it has
endured more stress than the bone could withstand. Fractures are commonly seen
in athletic sports. Three categories of fractures are injury, stress fractures, and
pathologic fractures. Research and talk about Transversal fracture using the following questions:
1. Give an example scenario for your chosen type of fracture, including the category,
location on the bone (proximal, midshaft, or distal), and direction of the fracture line.
2. What are the clinical manifestations?
3. Explain the steps of fracture healing.
4. What are some treatments?
5. What factors could impact the individual’s rate of healing?
