According to Kate Kelland in her article, “One Hour of Extra Screen Time Drags Down Teenagers’ Grades,” the teenagers who spent an extra hour surfing the internet, playing computer games, or watching TV often risk performing two grades worse in their exams than their peers who do not get involved much on the internet. The aspect implies that using the internet and spending more time watching TV is associated with reduced academic concentration. However, the author illustrates that physical activity does not affect academic performance. However, I believe physical activity has an impact on academic performance. Physical activity impacts cognitive skills like attention and concentration, which boosts a student’s memory and affects academic performance. Physical activity also enhances classroom behaviors and attitudes, all of which are essential components of improved academic performance. Thus, I can’t entirely agree with the study’s conclusion that physical activity has no impact on academic performance.

However, I agree with the author that too much time on television can negatively impact academic performance if they spend extra time on the TV and the internet. The students use the time they would have otherwise used for their studies on the TV set and surfing the internet. Besides, their attention and concentration shifts to the things they are watching and learning on the internet, especially when they are not academically related. Some of the information they find on the internet can also be inappropriate and moral decay, which further deteriorates their academic performance.
