The focus this week in on cross cultural communication.  This is a very complex topic because effective communicatin is hard under any circumstance and cultural influences are complex.

In the aviation business it is required that all pilots and all air traffic controllers world wide, speak English. These two groups speak only English in the course of their interactions.  I believe that it is obvious why a universal, required language has been established for the operation of airplanes taking off and landing, however as the text states, English is becoming a dominant language in the global business world.
