Group Project
Developing a Security Project Plan
This week, you will consider the case of a team managing security for a large company. The team is concerned that the company’s current antivirus product lacks important features. Common complaints are that it lacks reporting, does not work with all operating system platforms, and slows down computers. In addition, the company needs an antivirus solution that will work with mobile devices, such as Windows Mobile and Blackberry.
This is not a technical project as much as it is a case study where you can apply what you have learned about developing security project plans. In this case, you will develop a project plan for selecting and evaluating different antivirus vendors, with the goal of choosing a new vendor and a product that meets your requirements best. As a group, reach a consensus on how to approach this problem and develop a tentative solution that answers the following questions:
Determine the process that you will follow from inception to completion.
In this project, determine what other teams and stakeholders from IT and business units will need to be involved. State what role each will play.
Clearly state the business requirements, the project objectives, and a project timeline. State how these constraints affect your project.
In an outline format, list the most important technical, management, budgetary, and contract requirements on which you will score the different vendors, once the testing is complete. You may assign a weighting to each item to reflect its overall importance.
