When you use a celling fan remote and it has settings in which are represented by buttons in which can make the fan go slow, medium, and fast in order to help circulate the air to cool yourself after a long day. Also there is a button that allows you to turn the celling fan on or off, but sometimes the turning on settings can only be turned on by flipping a switch. The most possible solution is to overuse it so the celling fan doesn’t fall on you when you sleep (sometimes that happens). Sometimes you can turn the fan off so you do not use up the battery in the remote. 2- The device interaction I picked is the elevator in my apartment building. Many times there are multiple people waiting for the elevator to come, and that means that some people want to go up and some down. Unless the elevator door opens there is no way to tell whether the arriving elevator goes up or down. That many times result in people walking into each other. As you see in the attached picture the only way to see which way the elevator is going is to wait until the door opens. The possible, and probably the best solution would be to place the up and down arrows outside of the elevator (many places have that feature), therefore the person would be able to tell upfront, which way the elevator is headed. Once the arrows are outside, people can line up to the elevator that is needed, depending whether they intend to go up or down. 3- Hello class! Based on this weeks lecture and the different decision strategies learned in the lecture I think I could relate to almost all of them in some way. For example being delaying in making a decision is something i used to do whether its procrastinating on an assignment or not making a decision because the deadline is so far away and it feels like I have all the time in the world to decide. This sometimes would be in a delaying state mind and that has not helped my academic or career planning process. I’ve realized that and was able to not repeat this type of decision making strategy as it is not effective. This is something that I’ve struggled with and improved greatly by doing things earlier even if the deadline is not near. My top three strategies that have worked for me recently is being impulsive, intuitive, and fatalistic. I believe that I am impulsive by nature, if i see a good opportunity ill pursue it right away. Sometimes its only a split second of thinking and my mind made. Usually when people are impulsive they regret the choices they made and that puts them in a conflict with themselves. I think i have been lucky in where the impulsive decisions I made turned into really great ones, like choosing Marymount to continue my education. This is one thing I would keep the same. Another strategy that i would keep the same would be being fatalistic, this helps me keep a more realistic mindset when making decisions, and thinking that whatever happens is meant to be and we can not change that but try to do our best to achieve what we want to achieve.
