Brynn (age 3mths) was admitted to the pediatric ward with 

Brynn (age 3mths) was admitted to the pediatric ward with
pneumonia, her condition deteriorated and she required the insertion of a chest
tube. At first her parents were always present and active participants in Brynn’s
care, however since the insertion of the chest tube they only come in for a few
hours a day and do not interact as much with Brynn. When you ask the family if
they have any concerns about Brynn’s care, her parents both break down in tears
and tell you that they are afraid to touch Brynn for fear they will dislodge the
tube and worsen her condition. They emphasize that they don’t want to hurt
their baby, but that they want to know how they can be involved in her care.

1- Develop one family focused nursing diagnosis (strength-based) according to
what we discussed during our Week 4 class. Make sure to include the
relevant related to factors and identify which domain(s) of family functioning
it fits within.
