Just as the circulating nurse leaves to admit the patient, the anaesthetist mentions, in passing, that the patient has a latex allergy. The latex allergy was not noted on the OR schedule for the day. You have used sterile, latex gloves to set up the table and you have already been given sterile latex gloves for each of the surgical team members who will be scrubbed for the procedure. You are alone in the room as the circulating nurse admits the patient in Day Surgery.
