This discussion will focus on the O&T, opportunities and threat. The opportunities and threats in a SWOT analysis explore the environment outside the organization (strengths and weaknesses explore the internal environment of the organization).

When examining opportunities and threats, organizations should explore their economic, social, and political environments. What is happening with the economy that can affect the organization, are social views changing, and what affect would a change in government have on our organization are some questions you can ask. An examination of the external environment should identify threats to your organization – if x happens we could be in trouble. And identify opportunities – if y happens we could grow.

Pick an organization you have or are currently volunteering with to answer the following questions:

1. Identify the organization your worked with.
2. Talk about two of the three environments (political, social, economic) and the opportunities and threats in the environment.
3. Make recommendations on how the organization should react to what you have identified
