ICD-10-CM AND PCS CODES
Patient is a 44-year-old female with a history of MS who had guaiac positive stools at her PCP. She was recommended for an EGD and Colonoscopy. All sites that could be visualized on the esophagogastroduodenoscopy were within normal limits except for a small area in the gastric fundus, which was excised for biopsy. Biopsy showed chronic gastritis. The patient then underwent a colonoscopy. The colonoscope was inserted to 35 centimeters, diverticulitis was noted with bleeding. Because of narrowing resulting from edema due to the diverticulitis, it was not possible to pass the scope any further and the exam was discontinued.
