A patient who is trans-gender has checked into your clinic. Patient has been diagnosed with Congested Heart Failure and your physician would like for you to perform a STAT EKG. Patient is also concerned of this new diagnosis as well as an EKG and would like a better understanding from you. How would best explain to this patient in layman’s terms of CHF and what an EKG producer is. How would best instruct your patient that happens to be a trans-gender patient to prepare for an EKG procedure, it may require them to remove all articles from the waist up? What if the patient refuses, what will you do then.
